IP video intercoms and access control: Akuvox and Dahua

Door stations, indoor monitors, complete kits, access controllers, readers and mounting accessories. For single homes, residential communities and offices. We sell and install in Málaga and the Costa del Sol.

Who it is for

A single family home is usually covered by a kit: door station, monitor and unlocking from your phone. A residential community is a different job: how many homes, whether the old wiring stays, and how residents are added and removed. In offices and warehouses the point is access control: who comes in, with what (card, code, phone) and what record is kept. And there is a very local case: owners who do not live in Spain and want to let in a technician or a cleaner from another country.

What to compare

  1. IP or 2-wire. IP is the modern route and the one that supports an app and several monitors, but it needs a network. Two-wire systems reuse the cabling of an old intercom and avoid building work in a finished block.
  2. App and remote unlocking. Not all of them open reliably from outside the house. If the owner is away for long periods, that is the first requirement, not an extra.
  3. Monitor or phone only. A monitor still helps anyone who does not want to depend on a phone; the phone is essential when nobody is home.
  4. Door station durability. On a street entrance, look for vandal resistance and protection against water and direct sun. Sun here punishes plastic panels.
  5. Integrated access control. If you also want cards, codes or plate reading, choose a station that includes it or a separate controller from the start.

How it gets installed here

The most repeated Costa del Sol scenario is a villa with a gate and a front door: station at the gate, monitor inside, unlocking from the phone. In communities the challenge is replacing a decades-old intercom without opening walls, and that is where 2-wire wins. In holiday rentals, access control with a temporary code saves trips to hand over keys.

Frequently asked questions

Can I open the door from abroad when I am not at the property?
With an IP video intercom and its app, yes: the call reaches your phone, you see who is there and you open. What has to be sorted first is the property’s connection and a stable network at the door station; if the house internet drops often, fix that before anything else.

Do I have to replace all the intercom wiring in my building?
Not necessarily. Two-wire systems are designed to reuse the existing cabling of an old intercom, which avoids cutting into walls and stairwells. If the building already has a network, or one is being installed, then IP gives more options long term.

How many monitors can I have in one home?
It depends on the system, but several monitors plus the app on the family’s phones, all ringing at once, is normal. Decide the number before buying the kit, because the base unit determines how many extensions it supports.
