Ajax and Dahua alarms: hubs, detectors and accessories

The whole alarm system, piece by piece: hubs, indoor and outdoor detectors, smoke and CO, flood detection, keypads, sirens and accessories. We sell and install in Málaga and the Costa del Sol, and you can start from a kit or build the exact list your property needs.

Who it is for

In a flat or apartment, a hub, a couple of motion detectors and contacts on the front door and the terrace normally cover it. A villa changes the logic: garden, several doors, sometimes a separate garage or pool house — that is where outdoor detectors and signal repeaters come in. A shop or a warehouse adds outdoor sirens, keypads by zone and smoke detection. And if the property sits empty for long stretches, the point is not how many detectors you have: it is that the alert reaches you reliably and that you know what to do with it.

What to compare

  1. The hub. Look at the security grade, whether it has mobile (4G) backup as well as WiFi/Ethernet, and how many devices it supports. Replacing it later is the expensive part.
  2. Wireless or wired. Wireless goes into a lived-in home with no building work; wired makes sense in new builds and renovations. They can be combined with expanders.
  3. Indoor versus outdoor. An indoor detector mounted outside will give you false alarms. Outdoor units use dual technology precisely to avoid that.
  4. No monthly fees. An Ajax system can alert your phone without a compulsory monitoring subscription.
  5. Pets. Some detectors ignore animals under a given weight — tell us before you choose.

Mistakes we keep seeing

Mounting the siren within reach from the ground. Leaving the hub in the hallway, visible and reachable. Covering the living room and leaving the back access with nothing. And relying on WiFi alone: if the router goes down, mobile backup is what keeps the alert alive.

Worth reading first

Two reference parts: the Ajax AJ-UARTBRIDGE integration module for third-party wiring, and the Ajax FireProtect 2 heat detector.

Frequently asked questions

How many detectors does a hub take, and what if I run out of capacity?
Every hub has a device and zone limit. Running out does not mean scrapping the system — you add an expander or a second group — but it is cheaper to count properly at the start. Send us the floor plan and we will give you the number.

Does it work if an intruder cuts the power or the WiFi?
The hub has its own battery and the devices run on long-life cells. With mobile backup the alert still goes out without a router. Without mobile backup the system still sounds locally, but the notification will not reach your phone.

Can I expand the system next year without replacing what I bought?
Yes, as long as the hub supports the new devices. That is why it pays to choose a hub with headroom: you add detectors whenever you want and enrol them in the same app.
