Who it’s for and who it’s not. This is the keypad for homes with visitors who are not family: it reads key fobs and cards in addition to the code, so there’s no need to share numbers. It’s not necessary if the system is managed by a single person from their mobile, and it’s not an outdoor device: it operates from −10 °C to 40 °C.
What’s included in the box. The keypad with RFID reader for cards and key fobs, certified Grade 2, with bidirectional Jeweller radio at 868 MHz, internal antenna, and anti-tamper feature. It runs on 4 AA (FR6) 1.5V lithium batteries, with an approximate lifespan of 3.5 years. Ajax Tag key fobs and Ajax Pass cards are sold separately.
How we install it on the Costa del Sol. It is installed indoors, screwed next to the door for entry, wirelessly: 165 × 113 × 20 mm and 267 g. Its declared radio range is up to 1700 m in open space. During installation, the hub is kept hidden and this keypad is visible, which is exactly its purpose: to protect the panel in a secure location.
Frequently Asked Questions
Code or key fob?
Both, and they can be mixed: it accepts personal codes for each user, a general keypad code, and guest codes, in addition to Ajax Tag key fobs and Ajax Pass cards via RFID Mifare DESFire EV1 and EV2 (ISO14443-A 13.56 MHz).
Which hubs does it work with?
With Hub Plus, Hub 2, Hub 2 Plus, and ReX, with firmware 2.11 or higher. This is the first thing to check if the hub is already installed.
What does the emergency button do?
It sends a panic alert to the system without triggering the arm. Between that and the full arm, partial arm, and disarm, these are the four functions covered by the keypad.
