Description
In a coastal house with large windows there is one way in that an ordinary motion detector does not cover well: breaking the glass. By the time the intruder is inside and moving across the living room, they are already inside. This detector also listens for the moment of the break.
It is two sensors in one unit: a volumetric PIR with a 24-zone, 6-plane lens covering 12 m at 88.5° horizontally, and a glass-break microphone sensor reaching 9 metres, which recognises the characteristic sound of glass shattering. It is Grade 2 and also NFA2P certified. Pet immunity up to 20 kg and 50 cm, three sensitivity levels, and a single CR123A battery good for around five years. Compatible with Hub Plus, Hub 2 (2G and 4G), Hub 2 Plus, Hub Hybrid, ReX and ReX 2.
How we install it. Indoors, at 2.4 m per its listing, and here placement has a double demand: the PIR wants to look across the room’s walkway, while the microphone needs to hear the glass — so it must be in the same room as the window, with no tall furniture or heavy curtain in between. Never aimed at the window, never above a radiator. Registered by QR in the app, then the detection-zone test walking the room and the signal-strength test before we finish.
If you only need movement, the indoor motion detector is simpler. To make the alert audible inside, the indoor siren. Everything else is under Ajax indoor detectors.
