When an outdoor alarm trips, the first doubt is not whether something moved: it is whether it is worth getting up. This detector mounts outside and, on detecting, sends up to 5 images of what happened, so the decision is made looking at your phone rather than imagining.
That is the whole difference from an ordinary outdoor detector: the other one says “something happened in the garden”; this one shows what. Images are sent at VGA resolution, enough to tell a person from an animal or from wind moving a tarpaulin — which is exactly what you need at three in the morning. It communicates over 868 MHz Jeweller radio, with an internal antenna and up to 1,700 m of range in open space, has pet immunity up to 20 kg and carries an anti-tamper switch: try to open it or pull it off and the system says so.
How we install it. Outdoors, and on Ajax outdoor detectors the mounting height is low — considerably lower than people assume — so the field covers a person walking through rather than half the garden. We place it across the approach path or parallel to the façade, never aimed at the street or the neighbour’s plot, and away from sprinklers and air-conditioning outlets. It is registered by scanning its QR in the Ajax app, sensitivity is set, and signal strength is checked from the exact spot before fixing it.
