The question anyone asks when their phone goes off at four in the morning is a single one: is it really someone? This detector answers it. It is a volumetric PIR with an HD camera that, on detecting movement, sends up to 5 images of what happened, at up to 960 × 720, and according to its listing the picture arrives in under a minute. That is what decides whether you call someone or go back to bed.
It detects at 12 metres and 88.5° horizontally with a 24-zone, 6-plane lens, has pet immunity and four sensitivity levels. At night it uses infrared illumination, and HDR mode compensates scenes where part is brightly lit and part is dark. Alarms travel over Jeweller and photos over Wings, both on 868 MHz, with up to 1,700 m of range. Two CR123A batteries, up to four years. Grade 2 certified and IP50 rated: this is indoor equipment.
How we install it. At 2.4 m per its listing, looking across the walkway everyone in the house has to use, never straight at a window or above a radiator. It hangs on the SmartBracket with its retaining screw and is registered by QR in the app. There is one step we always take that is not technical: setting the photo request permissions with you — who may ask for a picture, and when — because a camera inside a home is a privacy matter before it is an electronics one.
If the same job has to be done at Grade 3 with anti-masking, that is the Grade 3 Superior photo detector. The panel that receives the pictures is the Hub 2. Everything else is under Ajax indoor detectors.
