The same Ajax flood detector, in black. That is not a whim: these units go on the floor, in dark corners — the washing-machine recess, the plinth under the sink, the boiler room — and black disappears exactly where white would stand out.

It works the same way: the moment water bridges its contacts it sends the alert to your phone over Jeweller radio at 868 MHz, with up to 1,000 metres of range in open space. Nobody has to be at home to find out.

• IP65, so the water does not finish off the device detecting it.
• Two AAA batteries lasting around 5 years, with a low-battery alert in the app.
• 60 × 60 × 14 mm: it slides under an appliance without lifting it fully.
• No cables: it goes where water might appear, not where a socket reaches.
• Working temperature of 0 to 50 °C, indoor use.
