This kit is built for the property that spends stretches with nobody in it: the second home, the house closed from October to March, the villa used at weekends. In that situation two things fail at once — the internet connection, and your confidence in what the app is telling you — and this kit goes after both.
The Hub 2 panel reports over Ethernet cable and over dual-SIM 4G (LTE): two different carriers inside the same box, so a router that is off or a weak signal does not cut the house off. And the MotionCam HDR detector sends photos of whatever triggered the alarm, so from 600 km away you can tell an intruder from a moving curtain without phoning anyone. Grade 2 certified, with its own 868 MHz radio running AES-encrypted Jeweller and Wings and up to 2 km reach in open space — a villa with a garden shed and a detached garage fits comfortably. It also detects attempts to jam the signal.
How we install it. The panel goes indoors on its SmartBracket with the rear tamper, near a power point, with both SIMs in and their PIN disabled; we look for a spot away from metal cabinets and more than a metre from the router, because that is where range gets lost. The photo detector is hung looking across the walkway everyone uses, never at a window. Each piece is registered by its QR in the Ajax app and, before we leave, we run the detection-zone test and the signal-strength test — an empty house should not depend on luck.
If you already have detectors, the panel on its own is the Hub 2 4G. If you do not need photos and an alert is enough, the basic Ajax kit is simpler. To extend it: Ajax indoor detectors.
