This recorder answers a very common situation on the Costa del Sol: a house that already has analogue cameras and coax run, and no appetite for chasing walls to move to IP. The XVR records what is already there and leaves the door open to what comes next.
Its four BNC inputs accept HDCVI, AHD, TVI and CVBS with automatic detection — hence “5 in 1” — at up to 5 MP. It also takes up to 6 IP channels (2 native plus 4 gained by converting analogue inputs), so you can start with the old cameras and add new IP ones on the same unit without changing recorder halfway. Video out over HDMI and VGA up to 1080p.
How we install it. Indoors, ventilated, with a socket and hidden if possible. It runs on 12 V DC (1.5 A) from its supply and draws very little — under 4 W — and has one SATA bay for a disk up to 16 TB. On a retrofit like this the first job is not the recorder: it is checking the coax that is already there, because a tired cable or a hasty joint shows up in the picture before any setting does. We inspect the runs, fit the disk, set each channel to its signal type and leave retention and phone access configured.
