The same 8-channel Ajax recorder, in white. This is the one to pick when the kit will be on show: next to the router in a hallway, on an open shelf, in an office — anywhere a black box stands out and a white one does not.

Inside, nothing changes: up to 4K at 25/30 frames per second, H.265 and H.264 compression and 100 Mbps of total bandwidth shared across the eight cameras. It accepts ONVIF and RTSP cameras from any brand, and everything — cameras and alarm — is seen from the Ajax app your family already uses.

• Eight channels: for a home with a perimeter and the entrances, that is usually more than enough.
• Scheduled or motion recording, which is what decides whether you keep four days or four weeks.
• Bay for one 3.5″ SATA disk of up to 16 TB. The disk is not included.
• 230 V mains power and an RJ45 connection; no Wi-Fi, it goes wired.
• Square 200 × 200 mm chassis, only 45 mm high, 700 g.

It runs from 0 to 40 °C at up to 75 % humidity: this is indoor equipment. And it is worth saying plainly — a recorder does not watch, it stores. The alarm is what raises the warning. We fit both and leave you with a single app on your phone.
