Which type suits you

A villa with a garden and long approaches needs outdoor bullet cameras with real infrared reach and, in most cases, dual illumination so you get colour at night. An apartment or a small shop is usually covered by discreet dome or turret units. A residential community with an entrance, garage and pool mixes both and adds a recorder with spare channels for later. If you want everything in one app next to the alarm, look at the Ajax cameras; if you want the widest choice of models and lenses, Dahua and Hikvision have far more options.

What to compare before you choose

1. Resolution against distance. A well-aimed 4 MP beats a badly aimed 8 MP. Check the lens and the angle, not just the megapixels.
2. Night vision. Classic infrared (black and white) or dual illumination / warm light (colour at night). They are not the same when you need to identify someone.
3. Power. PoE over network cable is the most stable option; WiFi only where cable cannot reach.
4. Recording. A card in the camera works for a single point; an NVR or XVR is what you want with several cameras, because that is where footage is really kept and searched by time.
5. Compatibility. Camera brand and recorder brand should match if you want all the smart features.

How it gets installed on the Costa del Sol

In villas the cable route is the whole job: trunking, buried conduit or a run above a false ceiling. In flats and communities it is the agreement with the owners and the cabinet where the recorder goes. If a camera looks towards the street or shared areas, aiming and the warning sign stop being a detail. Can I mix two camera brands on the same recorder?
Over ONVIF you normally get the picture, but smart features (person detection, alerts, audio) often only work with a recorder from the same brand. Tell us what you plan to mix and we will confirm what you would lose.

Can a specific area be excluded so the camera does not record it?
Yes. Recorders and most cameras let you define privacy masks: part of the frame goes black and is not recorded. That is what you use when a camera clips a neighbour’s window or a stretch of public street that is not yours to record.

Who has access to the footage once you finish the installation?
You do: the system credentials stay with you and the images are stored on your recorder, not on a server of ours. If you want a written confidentiality agreement, we have one and we sign it on request.
