Description
The Hub is the brain of an Ajax system: the box that listens to the detectors, decides there is an alarm and raises it. Everything else — detectors, key fobs, sirens — hangs off it. It talks to them over its own 868 MHz radio using Ajax’s Jeweller protocol, and takes up to 100 devices and 50 users, so a whole house fits on one Hub.
It reaches you two ways: Ethernet cable and GPRS. Cut the line or lose the router and the alert still goes out over the mobile network. It is Grade 2 certified, speaks Contact ID and SIA to a monitoring centre, has an anti-tamper switch and a backup battery good for up to 15 hours through a power cut. It also brings in up to 10 IP cameras or recorder channels, so alarm and video live in the same app.
How we install it. The Hub goes indoors — Ajax does not allow outdoor mounting — fixed to the wall on its SmartBracket, which carries a rear tamper: pull it off and the system says so. It needs a power point nearby and, if you use the wired path, a network socket; the SIM goes in with its PIN disabled. We do the pairing — each device is added by scanning its QR in the Ajax app — check signal strength detector by detector, and leave the app running on your phone.
