Description

On a camera installation the switch is not an accessory: it is what saves you running a power socket to every camera. This Reyee unit has eight gigabit ports with PoE/PoE+, so each camera is powered by the same network cable that carries its picture.

It delivers up to 120 W in total, and that is the number to check before buying: the limit is not how many cameras fit in the ports, it is how many fit in the watts. A fixed camera draws little; one with a spotlight and strong infrared draws considerably more — we work the budget out with the actual cameras in your project.

• Eight 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports with PoE, plus one gigabit uplink port so reaching the router does not cost you a camera.
• Gigabit on every port: it will not throttle several high-resolution cameras at once.
• External 100–240 V supply, with no power electronics inside the chassis.

It is an unmanaged switch: plug it in and it works, but it will not let you create VLANs or prioritise traffic. For a house or a shop with cameras that is exactly what is needed; if your project has to segment the network, say so and we will propose the right model.
