A 4-channel recorder for IP cameras, with no PoE ports. That absence is not a cut: it is the right choice when the cameras already have their power sorted — Wi-Fi cameras, cameras with their own supply, or an installation that already has a PoE switch. This one records and nothing else: powering the cameras is another piece’s job.
It takes cameras up to 12 megapixels and compresses in Smart H.265+, Smart H.264+, H.265, H.264 and MJPEG: the “Smart” version is what stretches days of footage on the same disk. It outputs video simultaneously over HDMI at 4K and VGA at 1080p, with 1- or 4-way split, and has RCA audio in and out. Its bandwidth is 80 Mbps in, 80 for recording and 60 out — the number that actually limits how many high-resolution cameras fit at once.
How we install it. Indoors, ventilated, with a socket, near the router; and well hidden, because whoever takes the recorder takes the recording. It runs on 12 V DC (1.5 A) from the supplied adapter, draws under 10 W without a disk, and has one SATA bay taking up to 20 TB in a single drive. We fit the disk, register each camera on its channel, set quality and retention, and test phone access from outside the house.
If the cameras need powering from the recorder itself, the one with PoE is the DHI-NVR4104HS-P-4KS3. The disk is bought with it: 2 TB surveillance drive. Everything else is under Dahua NVR recorders.
