Description
The recorder is the part that decides whether a camera system is worth anything. Cameras see; the recorder keeps, and what was not kept does not exist when you need it. This is a 4-channel NVR: up to four IP cameras on it, at up to 8 megapixels (4K) per channel.
It compresses in H.265+ / H.265 / H.264+ / H.264, and that “+” is not decoration: it is what fits more days of footage on the same disk, because the recorder stores less during the hours when nothing happens. It is ONVIF compatible, so the four cameras need not be the same brand — handy if something is already installed, or when you extend later. It has a bay for one hard disk, chosen separately according to how many days of video you want to keep.
How we install it. The recorder lives indoors, somewhere ventilated, dry and with a socket, ideally near the router — and the better hidden the better: a thief who takes the recorder takes the recording. We fit the disk inside, set the system up with the retention you have chosen, and check that each camera lands on its channel and that the app works from outside the house. If the cameras are PoE, powering them depends on the network install, and we size that on the visit.
Buy the disk with it: 2 TB surveillance hard drive. If there will be more than four cameras, the 8-channel equivalent. Everything else is under Hikvision NVR recorders.
