Description
A fixed camera looks at one place. This one looks wherever it needs to: it turns 360° continuously, tilts from −15° to 90° with auto-flip, and carries a 25x optical zoom (5 to 125 mm). In practice: from a pole at the entrance to a plot it can watch the whole area wide, and when something moves, close in far enough to read a detail at distance. Optical, not digital — closing in does not turn the picture to mush.
It records at 4 MP (2560×1440) and supports three simultaneous streams, so you can watch on the phone at low quality while the recorder keeps the high one. At night, four IR LEDs with a declared reach of 100 metres. For the hard scenes — midday backlight, headlights coming straight at it — there is 120 dB WDR, HLC, image stabilisation and digital defog. Power is 12 V DC or PoE+ (802.3at), drawing 9 W typical and 20 W at maximum.
How we install it. This is a heavy unit — 2.4 kg — so any old bracket will not do: it goes on solid wall or on a pole, with the fixing sized for the weight and for wind, and the cable run inside. It needs a network run back to the recorder; if it is powered over PoE+, the switch has to deliver that class, and we check that before installing. Then we set the position presets, the tours and the pan limits, which is where a PTZ earns its keep.
If it goes on a pole, ours is the 4.5 m galvanised CCTV pole. With the same 25x zoom but in a more compact body and six IR LEDs, there is the 4 MP WizSense PTZ. Everything else is under Dahua outdoor cameras.
