Description
An outdoor camera is worth little if it pings you thirty times a day over a branch or a cat. This 5 MP Dahua bullet brings perimeter protection with people and vehicle detection: you draw a line or a zone on the image and it only alerts when what crosses it is a person or a car.
It records at 5 MP at 20 frames per second, or 4 MP at 25/30 if you prefer smoothness over resolution, using Smart H.265+ to take up less disk. 120 dB WDR handles the backlight of an entrance, and the 111° angle is wide: a façade or a pool fits into a single camera.
- Two-way audio with built-in microphone and speaker: you hear, and you can speak from your phone.
- Four privacy masks: black out what must not be recorded, such as a neighbour’s window.
- PoE 802.3af or 12 V DC (13.5 W over PoE) — one network cable and done.
- −40 to 60 °C and up to 95 % humidity: the coastal summer does not bother it.
- Three-axis adjustment and the DMSS app, with Smart PSS Lite and DSS on a computer.
197.9 mm long, 540 g. It is a surveillance camera, not a licence-plate reader: it can tell there is a vehicle, it does not read the plate. We sell and install — we can leave it mounted, framed and recording.
Who it’s for and who it’s not. This is a camera for a backlit access point or facade, with a 111° field of view and 120 dB WDR. It is not a license plate recognition camera or a long-distance facial recognition camera: it can tell there is a vehicle, but it does not read the plate.
What else is needed besides the camera. A network cable to a switch with PoE 802.3af — consumes up to 13.5 W via PoE — or, if there is no switch, a 12 VDC ±30 % power supply. Storage is done on the recorder.
How to install it on the Costa del Sol. Compact outdoor camera: 197.9 × 80.2 × 76.2 mm and 540 g, with an operating range of –40 °C to +60 °C and 3-axis adjustment (0°~360° rotation, 0°~90° tilt). On the Costa del Sol, the point is chosen by looking at where the afternoon sun comes from: a camera directly backlit works worse, even with good WDR.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it better to record at 5 MP or lower to 4 MP?
It depends on what you are looking for. At 5 MP, it records between 1 and 20 frames per second; lowering to 4 MP reaches 25/30. Higher resolution provides detail; more frames per second means smoother motion. For an access point with cars, the latter is usually more valuable.
Is it suitable for reading license plates at the entrance?
No. It is a surveillance camera: its perimeter protection distinguishes whether what is entering is a vehicle or a person, but it is not designed to read the plate.
What does the 120 dB WDR fix in practice?
The typical case of an entrance: half the frame in sunlight and half in shadow. Without WDR, one of the two halves is lost. It also features BLC, HLC, 3D NR, and distortion correction (LDC).
