Six metres is no longer “a taller pole”: it is a different class of installation. At that height one camera can sweep a whole plot, a car park or a long driveway, and it is out of anyone’s reach. But the higher it goes, the more leverage the wind has on the base, and the more what is underground matters.

It is a galvanised steel mast rated IP65, arriving dismantled in five 1.2 m sections — which is how it gets transported and raised without a crane — and including PTZ and bullet mounts plus a lightning-rod mount. That last one is not decorative: a six-metre steel mast is usually the highest point on an open plot.

How we install it. The serious work is the base and the weight: at six metres the foundation has to be sized — concrete block with anchor bolts, cured before raising — accounting for the real weight of what goes on top. A large PTZ is over two kilos, and that weight, multiplied by height and wind, is what drives the calculation. The cable runs inside the tube and exits where the mount goes. We do the foundation, the raising, the cabling and the final tour and framing setup.

If less height will do, the 4.5 m pole is easier to handle. The camera that justifies going to six metres is a 4 MP PTZ with 25x zoom. All three sizes under camera poles.
